The cover athlete can generate buzz and drive sales, so the decision is never taken lightly. For Madden NFL 25, the honor went to San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey. However, the cover art has sparked some controversy, especially among fans of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Maxx Crosby or Davante Adams would have been cool options to be the Madden cover players. Both have had exceptional seasons and are significant contributors to the Raiders' efforts. Yet, they were not the choice of EA Sports for the Madden NFL 25 cover. The Raiders are still somehow featured on the cover, but not in a favorable light.
